The ever-increasing competitive pressure requires innovative ideas in order to secure or expand one's own market position. Increasing demands to comply with CO2-neutral process sequences are challenges in the conceptual design of bolted joints. In addition to improving functional properties, the aim of innovations in vehicle, machine and plant construction is to reduce the cost and weight of components. Costly failures due to damage to bolted connections occur time and again. Such damage can be avoided through calculation and design measures that are as compliant with the standard as possible.
The VDI 2230 guideline has become established worldwide as the calculation basis for the selection and strength verification of bolted connections. The conformity of connecting elements and bolted constructions with this guideline is increasingly demanded not only by testing organizations, but also by customers and suppliers.



In this seminar, you will learn how to systematically design and calculate highly stressed bolted connections in accordance with the VDI 2230 guideline. You will gain an overview of the load-bearing capacity, structural design and assembly of bolted connections. In addition, you will learn more about the special features that are not covered by the guideline and which must be taken into account when optimizing bolted connections. The practical examples will raise your awareness of the causes and consequences of self-loosening as well as the application and limits of bolt locking devices and how to find an optimum solution.
